Right to Respond

As part of our commitment to providing an honest and transparent view of health and social care services, Healthwatch Birmingham encourages providers to respond to comments the public have left.

Alongside ensuring providers can have a fair say in discussions about their services, replying to reviews demonstrates evidence of responding to patient feedback for the CQC, who regularly monitor our Feedback Centre. It is also an effective way to recruit service users for any wider engagement work at your organisation.

Guidelines for provider responses:

  • Keep language appropriate and civil
  • Remain professional and treat people’s comments fairly
  • Engage with the content of the review by addressing specific points and avoid cut and pasting a standard response
  • Don’t disclose the service user’s personal details or any potentially identifying information
  • Where appropriate leave organisational contact details e.g PALS or patient engagement teams for people to get further information

Remember: your response will be seen by everyone who uses the Feedback Centre, not just the original reviewer. All responses are moderated in accordance with our moderation policy.

Birmingham Dental Hospital



Couldn’t fault them, amazing staff!

I attended the dental hospital after calling 111 with severe tooth pain. I had already been to the emergency dentist at Scott arms. I Think they may have made the problem worse. I was crying in pain. Anyway, long story short, I waited around 1.5 hours to be seen. By the time I was seen I was in even more pain and crying, the dentist was amazing, she could see how bad I was and even managed to get me into x-ray ahead of the queue. I was told I had a severe abscess. The infection had started to spread to my nose and tongue etc The staff drained it and gave me antibiotics. Then booked me in the following day for a check up. Within hours I felt much better. The next day I had the tooth removed. The staff were all so kind, caring and more importantly extremely knowledgeable. If I ever have any issues again I won’t hesitate to go there. Thanks so much to the staff that treated me.
