Shy away from difficult dementia patients
July 21, 2024
My mother-in-law was in this place. Everything was great until she became more difficult as her dementia advanced. The home had one option in sight, to remove her, and ban my wife from seeing her on the pretence that my wife's behaviour was risky. They are only happy if you loved one is happy to sit down all day. Do yourself a favour and find a better place for your loved one. They deserve it .
They don't want the difficult patients

My mom has vascular dementia and I made the heartbreaking decision to place her in care as I could no longer do this due to work etc. I found a non for profit home which is great, however, should residents become difficult or too hard to handle they don't want them anymore even though they offer specialist dementia services. I have received many telephone calls from the home saying my mom has escaped and they are not going after her, the home is refusing to put a lock on the external door. Again this is too ensure they can give notice to those that they find challenging.
