Victoria Lodge Care Home

The care my partner receives at Victoria Lodge is truly outstanding. The Owner, the Manager, the carers, the cooks and the cleaning staff are exceptional. The care staff know and understand my partner so well. After she had a long spell in hospital recovering from sepsis, care staff were on the alert immediately when she started showing similar symptoms. With her GP’s support, they were able to deal with an infection without hospitalisation, allowing her to remain in the place where she is most comfortable and where she recognises the staff. The home always looks and smells clean and is well decorated throughout. The menus are well thought out to appeal to all tastes and to encourage reluctant eaters. I am unable to find anything to criticise in this amazing care home.

My mom lives at Victoria Lodge. Living at home was a very challenging experience for my mom and the family who has Dementia. The best thing that happened was to find this home as they care, respect and safeguard my mother.
The staff are very professional and the senior staff knowledgeable. They will share information about my mom’s care and be open and honest. The staff are empathetic, supporting my mom with her choices and holistic needs.
I am so happy that I don’t have to worry that my mom is safe and eating and getting the support she needs.
She gets involved with some of the activities that are available.
The home is clean and has a lovely, friendly environment.
Beautiful garden to sit in that is safe.

Mum has only been at Victoria Lodge for a few weeks. We looked around various other places but felt drawn to this one as soon as we entered. The owner, manager and rest of the staff are helpful and friendly, always introducing themselves when you arrive to visit your relative. They treat the residents with care and respect and the same with visitors. The are wonderful activities daily keeping the residents stimulated and happy, but noone is ever forced to partake in anything they don't fancy. As a family we can't say enough good things about the establishment and staff. It's always an emotional time when a loved one goes into care but everyone at Victoria Lodge have made it a positive and pleasant experience for both Mum and her family. Thank you x

Mom moved into this home in 2018 and it has been the best home we could have found. She has received the best of care and support from all of the carers. Nothing is ever too much trouble. They not only look after Mom but the family too which is wonderful.

They look after Mum who has dementia. I take her out for a little walk and a coffee most days but I feel I can omit to do that. VL do all the hard stuff; I just take her out for fun things.
I'm currently away and I have no anxiety that Mum is being well looked after.

Mum is well taken care of, the staff are lovely and well-trained, excellent activities and families are involved in every way. The home is always very clean and well taken care of and they are as interested in the families as well as the person that is actually in the home. Excellent standard of care .

My wife had Alzheimer’s and Anal Cancer. I was disappointed with the quality of care she had received from a large home on several occasions for respite. I am eternally grateful that I found VL. There was a loving, friendly atmosphere, more than adequate staffing levels with very professional permanent staff. Residents were encouraged to integrate and communicate and not left isolated in their rooms. The response from staff to any need always seemed swift and efficient. My wife felt loved and was happy and comfortable there and my children and grandchildren always felt welcome.

My brother has been very happy at Victoria Lodge after many lonely years living on his own in the community.The staff there are caring and engaging with their clients and go over and above what is expected of them.My brother is happy and that’s what matters to his family Victoria Lodge have given him a happy home and as a family we are truly grateful .

The first time I made contact and spoke to the manager I felt I was speaking to someone who understood what we were needed and that cared about the residents and proud of the Victoria Lodge and it’s standards.
My Mum did not want to go in and leave her home. She still says she wants to go home and has made a beak for it one night but there was someone there to talk to her and settle her and there have been times I have been dismissed when visiting because she wants to get back to her friends and the activities. I thought it would be months before she would settle instead within a few weeks she was happy and was joining in.
I understand that Victoria Lodge do not employ agency staff and management will stand in. This is reassuring because the residents are happy but so are the staff. The staff are all caring and yet professional and will update us to any problems or if medical treatment has been needed. They hug and take the time to talk to her and keep her engaged.
My Mums health has deteriorated recently and I have had had so much support from the owner, who has taken the time to call me to reassure me that all would be ok to The manager who listened to what my thoughts were on her care and helped to make sure my Mum is getting the best care and living the best life she can.

I am always very impressed with the Care and Support both My Dad ( who sadly passed in Victoria Lodge in Nov 2020) and my Mom. Mom is happy and though she has Dementia she loves it there and the activities they are all involved in. She loves the food too. She loves our visits but is Happy knowing she will be well looked after when we go.
