Everyone has been outstanding

Overall, very happy with the whole experience, my mum and we as a family have received, from the beginning the friendly and professional nature of all the staff has been outstanding. Always smiling, always willing to help, it is obvious there is a lot of care, so very important for those that are vulnerable - Thank you to everyone for looking after my mom.

My mom was sent to a EAB bed here in November 2024 she didn’t even manage a week. She had an unwitnessed fall in the lounge and the care staff did no more than put her to bed they didn’t inform me until 24 Hrs later, she was in so much pain and was eventually sent to hospital almost 48 hrs after with a suspected fractured hip, she was in a right state. The home phoned me to say if she wasn’t back to the home within 48 hrs the bed would be closed and we would need to collect her things. No compassion at all from staff member. When we we tried to find out what happened to mom after visiting the home the management had no knowledge of what happened and no explanation was given, we aid we wasn’t happy and we wanted how is it my mom could firstly have an unwitnessed fall in a lounge area and after the fall was given no hospital treatment and put to bed and next of kin not informed for 24 hrs ! Promised a call next day it never came ! Poor, poor management ill trained staff and most staff spoke very poor English and no communication skills or compassion. To this no explanation.

				Not Enough Experienced Staff
January 18, 2025

Learned that there are not enough staff to care for all residents. Thus, personal care is compromised daily. Also, notice posted to ask for towels, toiletries, day and night clothes to be brought in for loved ones, black bin bags given to take clothing for washing by family, as supplies are scanty or not available. Bed sores develop within Ann Marie Howes, as loved one is not being turned according to medical regulations as there are not enough staff to monitor all patients, especially for those who arrived medically fit.
Fact, having a Lasting Power Of Attorney on file, is frequently dismissed by social workers, who do not know the patients. Lasting Power Of Attorney is in place to prevent in house social workers from making plans on their own to override the expressed wishes of patients where they would like to go after short stay, especially when there are family members willing and able to take over where Ann Marie Howes visit ended. Knowing the mental health care act 2005, is still active. Social workers, OT need to understand inclusivity is a right of the patient to be heard. For speaking for patient, "best interest" Line is for the patients not for the social workers to make one sided decisions to send patients to care homes according to how much monies the patient has, by questioning and ignoring the patient's wishes to return to a fully adapted home with all care needs in place.

It is just a nappy changing service.

Some of the staff were ok. The physiotherapy was not existent and the occupational therapist were rubbish. They did not do their job properly. Shame on them. Let's hope they do not experience the type of help they provided for any one of their families.

My 98 year old mother has been resident for just over 3 years and suffers with vascular dementia. She is extremely well cared for by a kind and considerate staff who always have a smile for Mom and for us. Highly recommended.
