V.E Day celebrations were a great success!
May 9, 2020
It was great to see my mother and other residents outside enjoying the party atmosphere. Although we had to social distance ourselves from the residents we were still able to have good conversations with them all.
Due to the stress of social distancing guidelines both for residents and their families, it would be much appreciated if such type of gatherings/events were held periodically to improve the mental health of all involved .

VE Day Perry Trees Drive Through
May 9, 2020
In honour of the seventy-fifth anniversary of VE Day, I had the pleasure of attending the celebrations at the Perry Trees Care Home in Kingstanding. It was a socially-distanced commemorative event however, we had beautiful sunshine. The bank holiday was celebrated by both staff, residents and their families. The car park was utilised, families remained in their vehicles at all times and drove around the one way system, stopping intermittently to wave and speak to the residents and staff through their car windows.
A minute silence was observed at 11 o'clock, then the car park was opened and vehicles were beaconed to drive through in a orderly fashion. The residents and staff waved their union jack flags, the building was decorated in red, white and blue bunting. It was a wonderful atmosphere, the residents sang along to Vera Lynn's iconic WW2 song "We'll Meet Again" to mark the occasion. The quarantine did not prevent the residents and staff celebrating this special occasion. The spirit of all who were present was captured.
I would like to commend the staff who have cared for my my mother for a number of years and continue to go above and beyond for the residents.
A special thank you to the Manager for his creativity and vision for Perry Trees. He continues to find ways of bringing families together through this difficult time, which was demonstrated through the joyous VE Day celebrations.
Well done Perry Trees! (Until we meet again ....)

VE. day drive through - Visit my mom
May 9, 2020
Very well coordinated event. Opportunity to see my mom. Staff were all great. Plenty drinks put out for residents. Sun protection (hats) also put on less independent residents. I was impressed by the care taken by the staff. They should be congratulated. Social distancing was well observed
Attended the Perry Tree Drive through VE Day
May 8, 2020
On Friday 8th May I attended the Perry Tree Drive through, which celebrated the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
Upon my arrival, I was immediately impressed at how well organised & safely coordinated the plan was implemented during this time of social distancing due to Covid-19. I was the first to arrive and was welcomed into the car park by the Service Manager at exactly 11am as planned. The residents were transported outside of the building in wheelchairs by the staff so that they could see their relatives as they drove through the car park. There were also some lovely VE Day decorations/bunting placed outside and drinks for the residents.
The staff & residents were all very well dressed. My Grandmother looked lovely & happy. The weather was also sunny & bright which assisted with the smooth running of the event.
I was most impressed by Perry Trees thoughtfulness and efforts in trying to ensure that their residents maintain a close connection with their relatives by providing such an opportunity during this difficult time. I have not heard of many residential homes across the country offering anything similar. Therefore as a family we feel very blessed & privileged to have been able to do this.

Lost Mum 12/04 but her care was excellent

Mum was at Perry Tree for 2 years and was very well looked after. She had vascular dementia which sometimes made it difficult for the staff but they coped admirably.
Professional, informative & courteous welcome

Good evening, On behalf of my family, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for the welcoming preparations you organised for our mom. Loving the heart, cuddly teddy, Barbadian flag and picture, and the rainbow which Biblically represents the promise between God and us, his children, as well as an acknowledgement to all those who care for the sick, our senior folk, and those in need. Clearly, they demonstrate love, selflessness and courage and much needed community spirit. We can see that mom's settling well and it's truly because you're a genuinely caring professional, who leads a team of staff who have exhibited care and diligence in what has been an anxious time for the family, allaying our fears. Mom feels well taken care of. Stay safe and blessed always.
Thank you to staff for all their hard work

I am the daughter of a resident at Perry Trees Care Centre. I would just like to say a very big thank you to the manager and all his staff for all the hard work, care and compassion they show to not only my mum but all the residents.
We understand how difficult and challenging these times are and would just like to pass on our appreciation and gratitude to everyone involved at Perry Trees.
Its so comforting to know we can phone and speak to a member of staff or to Mum and get updates on her wellbeing.
The manager and his staff are amazing and a credit to Perry Trees.

Mum has been in the care of Perry Tree Care Home for just over 6months. It took mum a short while to settle in and adjust to the new faces around her, which was expected. The PT team is caring and before mum joining them, the PT team asked about her likes/dislikes, her family then/now etc. Several months on we have found the PT team know about mum and readily get in touch and update us with anything pertaining to her. We are well informed and happy with the care and communication they have with us.
In these extraordinary times today, where we are encouraged not to visit, I was offered an alternative option to visiting in person ... to Skype mum. I happily took up their offer with this initiative. They emailed me a link to use and advised I called ahead for one of their available slots. Today I was able to see mum and communicate with her at PT. Thank you to the PT team, there are many to mention, but we say a massive 'Thank You' to the team as a whole.

My grandmother loves it here

Perry tree centre is one of the best facilities I have ever encountered, and I am very happy that my grandmother can reside there. All the staff are more than accommodating to my entire family and they treat my grandmother very well. I know she is very happy there and every time I come and see her, she tells me stories about her favourite members of staff. They find ways to assist her; that makes her comfortable but also helps with her needs, without belittling her or making her feel like a child.
They also keep us well informed on various events, new ways for her to regain some of her independence and any challenges she may be facing, and they work with us to find solutions. I cannot speak highly enough of every member of staff and I am very grateful for all they have done.

Mum is in the best place she could be.

A broken hip and treatment in hospital after a fall, resulted in my Mum being placed in the NHS unit upstairs in the Perry Tree Centre. Whilst there she was well cared for and every effort was made to get her up and about again, we were very pleased with the level of care she received.
She wasn't going to be able to return to her looking after herself, in her flat, so we felt very lucky a place became available downstairs in the residential unit for her.
The whole facility itself is very secure, a visitor has to sign in, and be let into the residential unit. We were able to fill her room with her own things, photos, pictures, bed and furniture to make it as homely as possible. The facilities are excellent, and the place is consistently clean and tidy. The food is good and varied, a restaurant is available outside the unit, where you can take your loved one, or just have a meal yourself: always good food and value for money.
I have always been happy and never had any concerns with the quality of care my Mum has received. The staff are committed in what they do, and nothing is too much trouble, if you have any questions you can be certain a member of staff will go to great lengths to provide an answer.
My Mum celebrated her ninetieth birthday back in April, and we booked the function room for a family celebration. Every help was given to us to decorate the room, and the spread put on by the restaurant was nothing short of excellent. My Mum was overwhelmed by it all on the day.
Trips out are occasionally arranged and organised very well, which my Mum thoroughly enjoys.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Perry Tree Centre, for the tremendous efforts they go to in providing my Mum with a level of care second to none, and a caring environment that she thrives in. Thankyou.
