Waiting time is 3-4 months

November 24, 2017
The waiting time to get mental health support appointment is 3 - 4 months, which is too long. You see lots of different people - I've seen mental health GP, art therapy person, every time you go you see someone different. This is really bad especially someone with Autism, as it's important to see the same person. Also the waiting time to get support is too long.
They expect you to be able to open up straight away to a new person but it makes me feel very uncomfortable. They don't take my autism into account.
They word things too complicated (use complicated language) even though I've asked them to keep things simple.
I have to ask special support every time with regards my needs to do with autism and it is really frustrating.
They say that they are there to listen but I feel they are not.

We are sorry to hear that you have had problems with our Small Heath team. We have had some changes to staff but we are hoping things have settled down now and you should see the same person. Please ask for your preferred communication methods to be noted and our staff will then try to help in the best possible way. For example, some people need a longer appointment, whilst others like to have things written down. Our Customer Relations team can help liaise - they are on 0800 953 0045.
