GP has assessed my results over a week.

February 14, 2024
I was asked to record my blood pressure readings twice daily for a week and upload the results using an app. The GP then assessed the results.

A good service

A good, average service. Slight delays with requests but it gets attended to eventually. I have been referred on for leg issues.

A bottlenecked system

December 13, 2023
Re GP services, it is virtually impossible to get an appointment. The system is bottlenecked. I have on occasions had to phone 20 times in order to get through, only to be placed in a queue, and then finally to be told there are no appointments left and to try again tomorrow. When I tried to get emergency guidance/ treatment (severe reaction to a tick bite) I was offered an appointment with the nurse the following day.

Long process to get an appointment.

They're alright. There is a lot of phone calls then you have to go through a long process. Will get an appointment at the end of it.

Good support provided all of the time. I was referred on time for a mammogram and shoulder issues. A very caring reception team.

Difficult to get a same day appointment

November 27, 2023
It is difficult. If you don't get through at 8:00am then you won't get a same day appointment. They will give you one for in a few days. You will see whatever doctor is available in the practice. The reception staff are matter of fact.

My feet are much better now.

October 24, 2023
I was there to have a scan and a follow up in November. They were good. They have done the scans and arranging the follow up was easy. The nurse gave me a number to call and they gave me an appointment straight away. The operation was booked. It was painful but they were helpful, and my feet are now much better.

Not given information on medication

October 19, 2023
Told over phone I had diabetes. Waited 3 weeks for appointment. Then takes to Diabetic Nurse who covers huge area, gave metphormin but not told when or how to take. Not offered a meter until I explained that I took steroids daily because of auto immune disease, they alter frequently and alter my blood sugar levels. Finally given meter to test but told me my level would be 7.4 but she didn't check no help on food, no instructions on eye check, or feet check or anything else. If it had not been because of my mother had Type 2 I would not have a clue. When I checked my blood sugar as I had not eaten anything it was 23.4 I rang Diabetes Nurse and she upped meds immediately and added gliclazide so 2metformin plus 1 gliclazide in morning then 2 metformin pm. Compared to 1 metformin in the morning. I also inject tocilizumab which also alters blood sugar once a week. I put myself in low carb diet and have lost 3 stone which made zero difference to blood sugar but have now reduced steroids to 5 mg daily instead of 10 mg daily that has brought my Hba1c down from 65 to 44 pre diabetic but when flare ups occur of my auto immune disease everything will change again. I have come off the gliclazide and now take capo something as I was getting Hypers and Hypos as my steroids slowly reduced in my system.
