Gynae dept. Good service at first but then it became diabolical. I was neglected for over 2yrs. Left on an injection without monitoring which caused osteoporosis, supposed to be sent to a specialist team in London but nothing has came of it. They never return calls when voicemails are left, an open complaint took almost a year to deal with, again I was repeatedly ignored when I tried to get in touch about it and I was forced to contact the CCG to get the hospital to reply, nothing came of the complaint and meeting we had there, the consultant sat on his phone throughout it. I don’t feel I was listened too and again I’ve not been seen for the past 2years since. I’ve had to go through my bowel consultants at the QE to get seen at the Women’s oasis clinic again urgently.

Excellent clinical staff, admin terrible

I am having antenatal care the Birmingham Womens Hospital, and would say all the doctors, nurses, midwives and other clinical staff including radiology have all been excellent. They are friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel safe and supported throughout. The administration however is terrible, and really lets the service down. For my 20 week scan I received notice on a Friday that my scan appointment was on the following Monday (i.e. less than 1 working days notice to be able to tell me employer I needed time off). I have found them very unhelpful when I called up to chase the appointment booking and this has happened for multiple scan appointments. The appointments have gone ahead, and as I mentioned above, all the clinical staff are great, and I'm overall happy with their care, but the frustration and stress that the poor admin adds to the experience does make me mark the service down.
Invasive procedure which was extremely painful

Whilst the consultation was really friendly and professional the procedure I had was absolutely painful
I was not offered adequate pain relief before procedure even though I informed team of what I normally had

Depends who you get

Tried to discharge me with no feedback on surgery or what actually happened or next steps. Most staff super lovely but legit concerns about how it has got a BGSE status where you rarely get to speak to anyone that understands the basics of endometriosis. Lied to about the speciality of my surgeon when it really mattered. Would have been told nothing at all about next steps if I hadn't had to ask several times. Waste of time and pain.
Not a good overall
Fertility Centre
May 19, 2021
My partner and I are undergoing fertility treatment and it's quite an emotional time for us. Understandably, due to the pandemic we were unable to attend many hospital appointments together. However, one such appointment was the first appointment with the doctor, where the doctor required personal details of my husband, so after explaining this to the receptionist and much debate we were allowed to attend together. Our last appointment was on the 18th May (one day after restrictions lifting) and I thought surely after further restrictions having being lifted, I could attend this appointment with my husband and we can support each other at this very important time in our lives. However, once again we were not allowed to attend together. I cannot understand how we as a society we have open up cinemas, restaurants, bars - relaxed most indoor activities but I cannot go to visit the hospital with my husband and attend our fertility appointment together! The government recent lifting of restriction was based on meeting 4 agenda points and only once they had they would lift restrictions. The conditions, according to the government, has been met, but why not for fertility centre patients? How long is this going to go on for?
