More doctors, nurses and midwives needed.
March 6, 2024
The maternity department needs more doctors, nurses and midwives because they are severely short of skilled staff. Low and poor level of staffing is affecting patients who have to wait for ages.
Long A&E waits.

Very long waits all the time. Last time I waited for 5 hours in A&E before my son was examined by the doctor.
A 9 hour wait due to no doctors or beds.

My son had a back injury and waited 3 hours in an ambulance because there was no doctor to see him. After he was seen by the doctor he waited a further 6 hours because there were no available beds.
Excellent care provided.

My brother was stabbed and was taken to Heartlands. He was an inpatient for 5 weeks. He received excellent care, support and treatment.

Not getting anywhere here either

Care has been the same as Solihull as there is not much communication about what is going on. I don't feel like we're getting anywhere.
I was alright.

It was alright. An unexpected operation but it was alright. It was as good as it can be. Toilets were a bit dirty though.
NHS is in a mess.

I had a video call for an Autism assessment and they said that my son needed bloods doing before they could do anything. The said there was a 2 year waiting list on the NHS for an assessment. I ended up going private and paying £3k for the assessment. The NHS is in a mess.
They did MRI's, CT scans the lot.

They did a full MRI scan and CT scan, the lot for my son. Had to give him morphine and ended up being in hospital for a week on the children's ward, PAU ward 415. It was good here and they discharged him after a week as he wasn't coping well.
