Find out about more providing support for people with learning disabilities and autism
Could you provide support for people with a learning disability or autism who have complex support needs in Birmingham and Solihull? If so, then help is on offer to set up a “small support”.
NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), working with Birmingham City Council, Birmingham Children’s Trust and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, along with the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi), is running a series of drop-in sessions for people to find out more.
Martin Fahy, Director of Nursing and Quality at NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG, said: “Small supports are essentially small, community-focused organisations which offer intensive support which is bespoke to each individual and centred around their needs. This helps the person with a learning disability or autism to have support shaped around them and their life in the community, which could include work, volunteering, having friends and contributing to their community as citizens.
“We are really keen to increase the choice of providers for this type of care, and to support people to set up and run their own small support organisation. We will be holding a number of drop-in sessions, so that people can find out more and ask any questions they may have.”
Drop-in sessions:
- Wednesday 18 March, 2-6pm– Venue to be confirmed, Birmingham city centre
- Monday 23 March, 11am-1pm– Venue to be confirmed, Solihull town centre
- Monday 23 March, 6-8pm– Venue to be confirmed, Birmingham city centre
- Thursday 2 April, 10am-12pm– Venue to be confirmed, Birmingham city centre
