Keep an eye out each day for some of this year’s highlights, successes and people’s stories.

Day 11 ❄️ – How we listened to, and shared your experiences of lockdown.

Unfortunately 2021 began in lockdown due to COVID19. These were difficult times for many people and we wanted to ensure they had their say on how health and social care services responded to the pandemic.

Our joint report with Healthwatch Solihull highlighted several key issues and made a number of recommendations. You can read the full report here

We helped Birmingham’s African-Caribbean community express their concerns to the NHS & ensured services made the improvements people asked for.

πƒπšπ² 8 ❄️ – How we helped vulnerable people.

We worked with great organisations like Adavu Project, Anawim Birmingham’s Centre for Women and WAITS to make sure the people they support had their say on the health & social care services they use.

πƒπšπ² πŸ• ❄️ – How our volunteers have helped us this year.

We are very grateful to have a great team of volunteers, this year they have helped us to continue our community engagement safely and gather people’s views.

One volunteer told us β€œI love meeting and chatting with new people. I find it fascinating with all the feedback we have and all communities are happy to share.”

πƒπšπ² πŸ” ❄️ – What you told us about mental health.

Although we have heard some positive experiences from Children and Young People, many have told us of the challenges they face when using services.

Challenges experienced are around assessments, care planning, waiting lists, diagnosis, poor treatment, poor medical insight and support, and lack of responsiveness to complaints.
