Healthwatch Birmingham comments: Channel 4 Dispatches: Bupa Care Homes Undercover

On Monday 19th June 2017 Channel 4 Dispatches aired an investigation into Bupa Care Homes. This included a feature on a Bupa Care Home in Birmingham.

Healthwatch Birmingham believes it is vitally important to draw attention to any areas of poor care in Birmingham. We want all individuals who are in the receipt of care, and their friends and family, to be confident that their needs are met and are receiving good quality, safe care. It is disappointing to see the unacceptably poor care quality highlighted in the programme.
We welcome the Care Quality Commission’s intervention and are confident this will place people at the focus of decisions to keep them safe, and hold the provider to account for improving. As the programme highlighted in Birmingham, it is important people speak up about their care or any concerns so the health and social care system can take appropriate action.
Healthwatch Birmingham is here to listen to the experiences of individuals using health and care services in Birmingham and use this to drive service improvement.
