How do I get the NHS app?

You can download the NHS app for free from the App Store or Google Play. You can also use the service via the NHS website without downloading it. Anyone aged over 13 who is registered with a GP surgery in England can use the app. To get full access you’ll need to prove who you are using either photo ID or your GP registration details. The app offers a quick and easy way for you to:

  • manage and request repeat prescriptions
  • manage appointments
  • book and manage Covid-19 vaccinations
  • register your organ donation decision
  • find your NHS number
  • use NHS111

Some GP surgeries might also allow you to use the NHS app to:

  • see your GP health records (from 2023 onwards)
  • see the results of health tests (if they have been sent to your surgery from 2023 onwards)
  • message your GP or other health professionals
  • view and manage hospital and other healthcare appointments
  • view and manage care plans
  • access health services for someone you care for
