We ensure that Birmingham citizens are receiving high quality care and are involved in decisions about how services are provided by examining NHS Trust Quality Accounts.

Quality Accounts are annual reports published by NHS Hospital Trusts about the quality of care they offer. Quality is measured by examining patient safety, effectiveness of treatments, and patient feedback. Trusts also identify priorities for improvement.

Our scrutiny of Quality Accounts focuses on how well it reflects the experiences people have told us about in the last year. This allows us to identify where things are not being done well, examine how the Trust is using feedback to improve services and challenge them on their planned actions.

Once a Trust receives our comments they are bound by law to include them in the final Quality Account report.
