4 years assess my son for Autism

January 4, 2024
It took 4 years for my son to get seen and assessed for a disability with learning. (Autism). My older son wasn't diagnosed until he was 14 years old.

Health visitor didn't come out to me

December 11, 2023
I had to go to Nechells to see the health visitor as no one came to see us. I had a 2 year check that had to be done. It wasn't like they were checking up on us. It was more of a thing they had to do.

Should have had more help

December 28, 2022
I've met one twice. Came out when they were born. I've never met one properly, met one this time last year, I think that's why there's a delay for her personally. She should have had more help. Had one call from SALT and it was a video call and she was asleep so they didn't see her. Her 2 year old check up was done through a postal form.

Feel son has been sidelined

December 28, 2022
I've been in touch with the health visitor, they referred my son to the paediatrician and Speech and Language Therapist, because of covid this was done over the phone. They gave me plans of what to do in the meantime, but I feel like he's been sidelined. Wish there was more access to these services.

Hard to get hold of health visitor

November 29, 2022
Health visitor came out to foster care placement when my son was 2 months old and she had a cold. She came into my home and said she had a cold so I said she would have to go. She then phoned me and said she would arrange a visit within the next couple of weeks and didn't arrange one for another month. Last week I messaged her to ask when she would arrange another one. She arranged one for today but didn't come because she had to take family leave. It's very hard to contact her because she never responds. The only time she gets involved is when my social worker gets involved.

Helpful in the beginning but hard to contact

November 29, 2022
The health visitor visited my house when my son was 4 months old. They were very helpful and cooperative. I've had no contact with them since. I don't know how to contact them. I called them to seer how I could get the drops for my son. They said I should get it from my children's centre.
