Good quality care and caring staff

December 3, 2017
My mother is at Cherry Lodge temporarily, I was concerned because of the reviews but have been impressed at the cleanliness of the premises, good food and caring staff. The new manager has a vision for the future.

Staff are rude and obtrusive. To busy chatting than providing effective care.

not as seems

No registered manager despite on sites stating their is.Very low staff morale.Third manager in less than 3 years.Home smells and should be cleaner..Unannounced inspection is needed and every aspect of all rooms and building need to be done urgently. No management ever on floor they shut themselves away in the office and only seem to be concerned about paperwork. Issues and complaints not dealt with.Management come in from other homes ran by company and are rude to say the very least. The residents are not being put first still.Home is nice but that is about all.Communication is non existent. The home did improve last year after new manager came in but declined and still is.The relief manager was quite abrupt to a resident in the reception area when there last week, disgrace the man was obviously confused due to his health.Constant changes of staff that seem to come and go,no consistency. They need more and decent staff

I was looking for a home for my father

September 3, 2016
The manager new in post was positive informative and knowledgeable. Offering advice and a tour of the home. She spoke to every resident we passed. The residents beamed when they approached us. I felt assured and welcomed the home was lovely. The staff were welcoming and happy. The manager explained how dementia would affect my father in simple terms. The lunch looked and smelt delicious. The soft food menu which dad would have looked good. Of all the homes I visited this was the most knowledgeable

Home smells and dirty.

The home is beautiful but hygiene and odour of home is a major let down. The management was rude had no interest in needs of family member and seemed to be more concerned that they should have finished when we got to see them. The CQC report for this home was disgusting and judging by the management I can see why. Staff were rushing around (staffing levels appear to be low due to low staff morale and turnover.) Not once did the management help out and that speaks volumes. One Manager even stormed past one resident in the reception area who tried to get her attention, totally unacceptable. The senior care and team leader that we met we could not fault. This home could be so much better if was managed properly and genuinely cared about the residents and did their job correctly. I have seen several comments about this home and nothing appears to change.

My Grandad had bad experience

February 2, 2015
Never given NHS cushion when downstairs causing sores and uncomfortable experience. Allowed to fall in bathroom when proper supervision and care should of been provided. With the fall Granddad broke Hip and teared skin from arms. Was in serious pain when Paramedics could not use lift for trolley and used Chair instead because of this Granddad had tp be administered morphine. We not sure what really happened to allow Granddad to fall but this was within just over a week of stay. Granddad had to be sent to Queen Elizabeth hospital to have emergency surgery which was a risk for the age of 89. My Granddad will not be going back to Cherry Lodge as he need now constant nursing care.

The management of the home has changed and we work to reduce the risk of such instances. I read your feedback and wished I could have turned back the clock and prevent what happened to your grandfather. What I can do is work to try and prevent this happening to someone else. There have been changes made since the date of this feedback. I would be gratefull if you could return and give me feedback of your impressions now.
