tested falsley positive benzodiazepine drugs

Maternity
October 20, 2016
During my pregnancy I kept testing positive for a drug that would have had implications on the development of the fetus, I was not taking the drug. When I gave birth they did a tox screen which took 4 days (without my knowledge or consent). This delayed discharge from the hospital and I did not know why. I was later told that there had been a fault with lab tests which was causing false positive results.

Husband in hospital in very bad pain

Cancer services
August 19, 2016
Husband in hospital in very bad pain and was not given pain relief.

My husband was a patient for 4 days. He had cancer of the spine (and in other organs). He had a bell next to his bed that he was told to ring if he was in pain and needed staff. On one occasion he had been pressing the bell and asking for help five times and no-one came. A relative visited him and found him crying in pain. She asked the ward sister if she would go and look at him – she was told that the ward sister did not have time. She approached another nurse who was with the drugs station, she told my daughter that she could not leave the drugs to go and attend to him.

Horrible. Staff neglecting patients.

December 31, 2014
Whilst at good hope hospital I saw many bad practices followed. Staff neglecting patients, especially the vulnerable like the elderly. Examples of senior nurses rude to both the patients and visitors, was also present. Just a bad place to be. Avoid taking loved ones there

Very Bad Experience Over Maternity

September 24, 2014
I would recommend to others that they choose a different hospital.
I had to wait for more than two hours. While I was waiting a lady arrived out of pain. She was told that it was false pain but later after an hour, she came back soaked with blood. She had been driving on her own. Just think if something had happened to her while she was driving?

Elderly relative inpatient earlier this year

September 8, 2014
At best overall standard of care relative received was poor; at worse undignified and neglectful. Communication non-existent. Discharge letter had completely wrong diagnosis/reasons for stay recorded. Made worse since in that put in official complaint and no formal response as yet - approx 7mths later. Woman in PALS has been lovely but waiting on response from clinical areas so has been unable to process. Does not make me feel that the areas involved care, which actually only reinforces the experiences at the time.
