Right to Respond

As part of our commitment to providing an honest and transparent view of health and social care services, Healthwatch Birmingham encourages providers to respond to comments the public have left.

Alongside ensuring providers can have a fair say in discussions about their services, replying to reviews demonstrates evidence of responding to patient feedback for the CQC, who regularly monitor our Feedback Centre. It is also an effective way to recruit service users for any wider engagement work at your organisation.

Guidelines for provider responses:

  • Keep language appropriate and civil
  • Remain professional and treat people’s comments fairly
  • Engage with the content of the review by addressing specific points and avoid cut and pasting a standard response
  • Don’t disclose the service user’s personal details or any potentially identifying information
  • Where appropriate leave organisational contact details e.g PALS or patient engagement teams for people to get further information

Remember: your response will be seen by everyone who uses the Feedback Centre, not just the original reviewer. All responses are moderated in accordance with our moderation policy.

All for show never about the patients

This practice is majorly over subscribed, if you can’t use the internet then you’re stuffed because reception have a one line dismissive statement telling you to just phone or go online don’t know what they are there for. You can never ever get an appointment here. When you try online they email you and say nothing available for the next three weeks try asking again then for the following three weeks-so what a 6-9 week turnaround time for an apt? I ended up going private because I couldn’t cope with pain levels despite me breaking down in surgery management don’t care. Apparently the partner drs been off sick for some time so they don’t care, got told now they do have Apts if you are happy to be televised as they’re part of a tv show which I declined I don’t need the whole of the uk seeing my personal medical problems. I have cried so much at this practice I’ve just given up now and I go private because it’s too mentally exhausting to battle every time. Been at the practice over 3 years never had a diabetic review again went private got prescribed something and was told they wouldn’t train me on how to inject myself because I went private the consultant should. I ended up having surgery last year and needed daily dressing changes and was told no nurse apts as they had ALL been given the same time off- when you see the size of this practice and management and staffing you really do wonder where is all the nhs funding they are getting going?
