Both staff and management were always accessible, warm and friendly. we always felt mom was in best place for her needs. Manger ensured her residents were protected at all times especially during covid.

Thank you very much for your kind words. We shall share this with the team and it will be a source of encouragement. We are not a large home as you know, but having a warm and friendly environment builds strong bonds with the family to help us deliver holistic care to our elderly and frail residents.

Thank you to all the staff

Our mother was only at Highbury for a short period of time before she sadly passed away. She was elderly had latter stage Vascular Dementia with a number of behavioural problems and underlying health issues. Prior to going to Highbury she was in another care home until being admitted to Heartlands Hospital with a serious health problem where she remained for two and a half months. When she was ready to be discharged we initially could not find a care home that would take her because of her behavioural issues. We then contacted Highbury who were prepared to take her. Even in a short amount of time the care, dedication, perseverance and compassion shown to our mother started to make a big difference. The staff helped calm her to become more settled and responsive and also controlled her pain to make her more comfortable. She became more willing to socialise and be involved in the activities in the home, and they encouraged her eating. The staff had just about reset her sleep pattern so she slept most of the night. Sadly the effects of the dementia and her age caught up with her and she was not able to fight on. We were not able to be with her when she passed away due to the lockdown, but we know that she was made as comfortable as possible and that nursing staff were with her at the end. We say thank you with all our hearts to all of the staff at Highbury for making our Mum’s last few weeks a much better fulfilling and peaceful experience.

Thank you Martin for telling your mum's story. I will always remember the day I went out to assess her; although she was frail, she was able to hold my hand and tell me a little about the symptoms troubling her at the time and that her infection "felt like lemons". It was then I knew that she was destined for Highbury.
She was a brave lady and I hope that you as a family will always remember the woman that she was before the effects of her dementia took hold. She was a joy to nurse and in the time she was with us, thanks to the input you and the family gave, we had the insight to interpret her behaviours and make life more bearable for her.

Excellent care provided by a great team

My father received an outstanding level of care and support during the 2 and a half years that he was a resident at Highbury. The environment was always very warm and welcoming for residents and visitors alike. The team, from management to nurses, carers, cleaners, chefs and entertainers could not be faulted in their dedication and commitment to provide residents with dignity and a clean, comfortable environment.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to leave a review. As a small nursing home we strive to make a life for our resident. It is so important when an older adult he had reached the point where 24 hour nursing care was needed, that he had something to get up for each morning, to know that he was are safe and to recognise the people around him.
It is not the same life that Dad had at home, but it was a place where his family could come and go at leisure and to be able to mark and celebrate important occasions in his life. We wish you the very best as you now face life without him and we hope that you have treasured memories of him, even at the twilight of his life while he was with us. We hope to see you after the lock-down is lifted and we can then come together and celebrate his life and remember him.

Poor physical standards and poor management.

The place needs a refurb for a start. There are I think some caring staff and nurses, and there are people employed for activities, hence the 2 stars. But my overall impression is that the quality of care is basic and care staff don't spend much time engaging with residents except at a basic, functional level. For example, I saw a care staff feeding a resident and throughout this time did not utter a word to the resident but was looking around the room. Saw residents with food stains on clothes. Heard a staff member say it's not a happy home since new manager came. When I visited, the lift was broken and resident and staff were inside. I heard one staff say it's ok it happens all the time!

We have had a flurry of reviews on other platforms which we believe have been posted by an ex-staff member who had his contract terminated (by the new manager) as he failed to meet the required high standards in his probationary period.
Sadly the individual for reasons only known to himself, has indulged in trolling behaviour towards our team and has at times masqueraded as other staff and even relatives to carry out his vendetta.
