They give you an appointment for that day

They will see you depending on how busy they are. You can phone them and they give you an appointment for that day.

Called several times, no answer

March 28, 2023
Called several times, no answer. Son is diabetic had temperature and ketones were 0.6. I eventually got through and took him there and they gave abx for him but it took so long and he could have got really unwell if he hadn’t got the care. They need to answer the patients when it is urgent care.

Apart from when it gets busy, they are good. Really good service been referred here and they will refer on to QE or other services if need be.

They are waste of time

March 28, 2023
They are waste of time. If you get referred you have to wait for ages and don’t get any answers. It was much better when it was a walk in center but its not great now. You wait so long for nothing.

Sent here and seen straight away. He went in the side bit, they don’t open the main door. But they were good. gave abx and helped with son’s scarlett fever

They do a phone call first

They do a phone call first and normally sort it out within that phone call, if we need help they ask us to come for an appointment.

Awful not the doctors just the waiting times

February 16, 2023
Awful not the doctors just the waiting times and kids can get worse while waiting. My daughter was given Calpol for high temperature and they send us to children’s.

Easier to get an appointmemt

I'd rather use them, find them easier to get an appointment. Phone them directly and they'll give me an appointment straight away. Always good to use with the bab.

Long waiting time, whenever you go have to wait 3 to 5 hours.

Quick, efficient compassionate

One thing I should note it isn’t a walk in anymore the name is now south birmingham urgent treatment centre (katie rd). You cannot just walk in and be seen now, you have to phone up and be assessed over the phone first. The initial phone consultation it was hard to get through the line was engaged for quite a while, when I got through I was in a Que for 20 minutes listening to a recorded message. When someone answered it was good they listen to you and then advise what will happen next, I was offered a call back. The call back occurred 4 hours later, but the doctor offered me a slot immediately. The service was very good efficient I found it very informative, he explained the possible causes of symptoms which he said would need to be checked by GP as they do not do blood tests here, he also explained very well what to do next and was very caring saying although they are so busy always call back when needed. Initially I had tried to contact my own GP who had said either call back in 4 days to check if any appointments or to try phoning Katie rd, so I was very happy to be seen at this centre on the same day and would highly recommend them as now the GP has to call me for a follow up.
