Right to Respond

As part of our commitment to providing an honest and transparent view of health and social care services, Healthwatch Birmingham encourages providers to respond to comments the public have left.

Alongside ensuring providers can have a fair say in discussions about their services, replying to reviews demonstrates evidence of responding to patient feedback for the CQC, who regularly monitor our Feedback Centre. It is also an effective way to recruit service users for any wider engagement work at your organisation.

Guidelines for provider responses:

  • Keep language appropriate and civil
  • Remain professional and treat people’s comments fairly
  • Engage with the content of the review by addressing specific points and avoid cut and pasting a standard response
  • Don’t disclose the service user’s personal details or any potentially identifying information
  • Where appropriate leave organisational contact details e.g PALS or patient engagement teams for people to get further information

Remember: your response will be seen by everyone who uses the Feedback Centre, not just the original reviewer. All responses are moderated in accordance with our moderation policy.

No follow on test results no appointments

1. No follow on test results I always have to call back 2. Can never get a appointment even if you call at 8 am by the time you get through appointment gone happens always, I stopped I'm not been well for months now I prefer to get them through the app 3. About 7 weeks ago my repeat meds two of them missed out you have to phone the practice let them know. It causes me stress Over year ago I had a MRI done they found something not right with my spine they told me I will be referred to an orthopaedic service. I waited for over year for an appointment to come through then few weeks ago in August 2024 I had this chronic unbearable pain in my back it went in my legs I lost bladder my mistake Abdominal pain also I nearly passed out no pain killers helped it was that bad, 2 days later I went emergency health centre. That is when my family told me to contact my GP and inquire about that appointment last year 2023 about June July time When I contact the surgery I told a clinician everything and about my appointment, it was not sent, why did they not refer me I been waiting over a year? The feedback was they did the referral I was sent an appointment from the hospital the same clinician phoned me back to tell me that, I told her I did not receive anything in the post because if I did I would have received the appointment on the text message and online NHS app, I knew she was lying. Then she referred me I have received the appointment now in post Also text message also on my NHS logic app, appointment is on this month that's how I knew, she was lying that the hospital secretary said I was sent a hospital appointment This incident is really bad how much it must have damaged my health
