Correction to first review

I have now had the opportunity to meet with the care provider and manager at Primrose Place and now realise that unfortunately I was mistaken in assuming that Primrose Place itself was changing to Supported Living. I understand that this is the company's business address and not the supported living accommodation. The company is in fact registered as a care home provider (Primrose Place) as well as supported living elsewhere. My apologies to the provider for this misunderstanding.

Didn't know about move to Supported Living.

There have been historic concerns about the leadership here and communication continues to be an issue and I often find out what's happening behind the scenes by speaking to others or following my own instincts which is how I found out via your website that the home has now moved to Supported Living. There have been many improvements at the home which is why I've upgraded to three stars. Any concerns I raise are now taken seriously by the provider and acted on. The manager sometimes seems "out of her depth" and quite defensive. However she has introduced more activities and my son now has a fulfilling week doing lots of interesting things. His concerning behaviours are reduced. I am going to e-mail them about my concerns about the move to Supported Living and how this will impact on the care provided.

Dear [anymonous],

Thank you for your feedback.

As discussed with you yesterday on this matter for the first time, I can clarify the home operates as a residential care home with a “hands on” full time manager on site, and a director who visits regularly. As a provider, we do also have a registration to provide supporting living services, which is managed from these premises, however, currently there are no supported living citizens located on the premises, nor have there ever been.
If there was any proposal to change the premises to supported living accommodation, we would of course consult all relevant parties, including service users and active relatives.

I’m glad you feel the home has improved and your son now has a wider range of activities in place, part of which I believe is down to the managers efforts. We will continue to involve healthcare professionals and will try our best to reduce service user behaviours that arise in the future.

First and foremost our time and efforts need to be used to directly promote service user wellbeing, however, I’d be happy to discuss and formalise a plan as to how you feel we can improve communication with each other and will email you shortly in regard to this.
