Front page imageHealthwatch Birmingham has published our latest report, exploring the provision of care plans for people with a serious mental illness in Birmingham.

The report looks at the provision of care plans for those patients under the care of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT).
Summary and key findings include:

  • Eighty percent of patients with a serious mental illness at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust have a care plan that has been put in place by the Trust and/or reviewed in the last 12 months.
  • One in five therefore do not have a care plan; BSMHFT have said they will provide a work programme to address this issue.
  • Healthwatch Birmingham will follow up on the Trust’s  programme, and report any changes in the proportion of people with serious mental illness that have care plans. A follow-up report will be written in early 2017.
