Palliative and End of Life Care Consultation
A city-wide Health Consultation (by Birmingham South Central, Birmingham Cross City and Sandwell & West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Groups) is now open on how palliative and end of life care services for children and young people can be improved.
What the consultation means by paediatric services, are medical services for children and young people up to the age of 18.
Palliative care means services that support patients and their families with an illness which can’t be cured, to improve their quality of life. End of life care means services that support children and young people and their families who are in the final 12 months of their lives.
They want to improve paediatric palliative and end of life care services so that wherever people live in Birmingham, they will receive high quality, consistent care when and where it’s needed, which is sensitive to all the needs of patients and their families.
