Relocation of Granton Medical Centre, Griffins Brook Medical Centre and Bunbury Road Surgery

September 19, 2018

From NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group
Patients of three GP surgeries in south Birmingham are being asked for their views on plans to move to a new health and wellbeing centre.
The relocation could see Granton Medical Centre, along with Griffins Brook and Bunbury Road Surgery (BG Health), move from three sites to a single purpose-built medical centre by 2020.
The current surgeries are either not fit for purpose or do not meet the current standards expected for a GP surgery. Moving to a larger site will allow the practices to offer their patients the best possible healthcare, with additional space available for current and future services.
A site has been identified on the Bournville Village Trust estate and a case for funding has been put forward by NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group and is currently being considered by NHS England. The approximate walking distances from the existing surgeries to the new site are:

  • Granton Medical Centre – 1.4 miles
  • Griffins Brook Medical Centre – 0.3 miles
  • Bunbury Road Surgery – 0.9 miles
