What does continuity of care mean to you?

November 9, 2023

On Friday 24th November 2023, University of Birmingham is hosting a half-day, facilitated workshop on continuity of care. The aim is to understand the views of patients, clinicians and researchers about what continuity means to them. For example, does it mean:

  • always seeing the same GP?
  • seeing a small number of GPs?
  • seeing the same GP for each episode of care?

The workshop will also be asking:

  • can continuity be provided by other clinicians?
  • does it matter more for some patients than others?

By investigating how patient, clinician and researcher perspectives align with numerical indices of continuity of care, the hope is to develop a shared understanding of what it is we are trying to measure when we are considering continuity and how best to measure it.

Patients will be paid £25 for attending, plus lunch will be provided and travel expenses can be reimbursed.

The workshop takes place from 1pm to 3pm on Friday 24th November at The Exchange in central Birmingham, a short walk from New Street station.
