By contacting our Information & Signposting Line patients in Birmingham are being guided to the help and support they need. Your experiences are also helping us understand care quality across the city.

Healthwatch Birmingham has published our latest patient stories, which highlight how we are supporting patients to access the information they need to help them navigate health and social care services. You can read them below.

As part of the national Healthwatch campaign #ItStartsWithYou, we are celebrating you, the people who have shared your views of local services. The campaign also details the actions we have taken to ensure your experiences are being used to drive improvement.

When Mrs J called us to tell us about her experiences of her local GP, we helped her access the support she wanted: Mrs J called us to share feedback about her local GP. Unhappy with her treatment, she didn’t know how to raise her concerns. We put Mrs J in touch with her local NHS complaints advocacy provider who helped her raise her concerns. She is now happy with the treatment she is receiving.

Mr W contacted us to share his experiences of NHS waiting times. We provided him with information to help: Mr W had been waiting several months for major surgery and was concerned this was too long. We provided him with the section of the NHS Constitution which outlines what the maximum waiting times should be. Mr W told us: “The information you provided gave me the knowledge and confidence to raise a formal complaint with the hospital”. As a result he received a date for surgery.
