Don't go here if you have cancer

June 9, 2015
I have a large lump in my neck that my GP believes is cancer. I received an appointment on the evening my appointment letter arrived - it was on the doormat when I got home from work. No doubt I will have to wait another 2 weeks for them to pull themselves together.

Excellent care from whole team

I was on surgical day care today. The care I received from everyone I met was fantastic. Everything was explained to me.
I am a nurse at another local hospital and its was nice to be on the receiving end of care I would be proud to give to the children in my care at work.

Arrived at A&E after a dog bite to wrist, expecting stitches, but xray showed broken bone so i got admitted to newton 3. I was so scared, never been in hosp before, but the staff were soooo lovely it calmed me down straight away. They go above & beyond, and nothing is too much for them, they take the time to actually get to know you rather than just treating you. They are soooo kind, and are genuine people.

Only thing i found bad, was the fact i was nil-by-mouth for 15 hours and my op got moved to the next day. That annoyed me more than i can tell you, hense why i took 1 star off my rating, but that was obviously due to emergencies coming in. Besides going nil-by-mouth for so long twice, the ward itself & staff, were 10/10

A&E is dreadful but good care once admitted

- Vague, disinterested reception staff.
- No information from triage nurse
- Nearly 3 hr waiting time with all vending machines broken and not even water offered
- At least if you were given an indication of you waiting time you could leave A&E to pop to the cafe and get a drink

Absolutely crap would rather bare it out

Crap service from the time it takes to see someone and all we went in was because my mate mis-placed his tablets and needed some to keep him going through the night. The staff can't even look at you when you are talking to them rude and incompetent!
