No explanations and sticking rigorously to blood tests rather than listening to the patient. I am a person not a set of numbers.

I'm looking to apply for medicine and need some volunteering experience in a hospital. I've been calling the hospital every day to speak to a volunteer manager, but all I get is an automated response saying there isn't anyone available.

Infection in newborn babies

August 2, 2015
my grand daughter was born at City's maternity unit. She had an infection and ended up on antibiotics and having a lumbar puncture. The explanation that she had an infection was given. Not where it came from. Now I hear of others whose babies have similar, infections, lumbar punctures to rule out meningitis but no meningitis. Just no further explanation. I'm wondering if the maternity is clean or contaminated?

Orthopaedics

Waiting for treatment keep cancelling the noise and disrespect of patient who are abusive and have no respect for others. Shameful nurses have no control of the ward.

Excellent care from all staff in the group.

Cardiology

I have recently used the cardiology, and urology departments. I was treated with respect and dignity by staff at all levels. Staff went the extra mile to ensure my treatment was delivered speedily, and was appropriate to my needs. Indeed I chose hospitals in your group in preference to Russells Hall hospital.

In particular I have received the highest possible care from Dr Conolley, and Dr Noah, and their staff.

Maternity ward 2 absolutely filthy

July 12, 2015
I have to start by praising every member of staff I encountered. My care was excellent on serenity, m2 and in the neonatal, however the cleanliness of the ward is terrible. I have not seen a cleaner. The toilet has blood all around it as does the shower. I saw silver fish bugs in there too. My baby was either born with or has picked up an infection here and I can only feel it is the latter. The room I gave birth in on serenity was over 30degrees hot and as a result we had to open the windows and prop the door open. The peadetrician even said that is not usually permitted due to the risk of spreading infection but there was no choice it was too hot. Again I want to stress that the medical team are brilliant and I can't speak highly enough of the care I am receiving. But I do feel the need to mop the floors myself before using the toilets which isn't right. There is also litter in lifts and hallways.
