More support needed

November 14, 2018
I am a elderly patient with memory and incontinence problem. I get nurses to come home to support with incontinence and to provide pads, but I need to remember to book them to come regularly. I have memory problem so this is really difficult for me to do, as a result I end up having to pay for pads that I cannot afford. I have asked if they could make the appointment automatic but I was told they don’t do that. They have refused to help me with this problem. I also have a problem with my hearing and when I asked my GP if I could have a hearing aid fitted at QE, I was told they don’t do this anymore. However when I was at QE for another issue, they told me that I could get referred for hearing aid. I then went back to my GP and was finally referred, however when the appointment day came, I missed my appointment as I have a memory problem, If they had reminded me this would not have been an issue. I tried to explain this to them but didn’t receive any support

An exceptionally well run gp practice

You can get an appointment quickly and with GP you want to see. GPs and nurses v caring and competent. Walk in blood test appts and CBT counselling available. Small personal surgery - I have seen same GPs for 20 plus years and feel like they know me well.

None of the doctors really listened to me

November 23, 2017
I was referred to Birmingham Healthy Minds for 12-week course by GP. CBT route was not working and that was agreed by Birmingham Healthy Minds counsellor. Received numerous contacts for private counselling. I did access private counselling. I have also tried other complimentary therapies such as acupuncture and reflexology.
I was disappointed by GP as even though I mentioned several times that I do not want to take medication they still tried to get me to take medication. None of the doctors really listened to me and found any solution into my panic attacks. I had severe feeling of fear and physical nervousness signs.
I have tried many routes, and keep on going back to my GP but as I do not want to take medication they are not able to help me. The support is not personalised support. I should be able to access support that works for me through my GP - yoga, reflexology etc.

Always help, listen & give time

Always help, listen & give time despite ridiculous targets set. They are a small friendly teaching practice who are under threat of getting bigger & joining up to other practices - to save money. Please don't make them!!

Friendly, helpful and approachable reception team. Easy to book appointments. Fantastic practice nurses, doctors and health assistants. I feel very well supported to manage complex and on-going health care needs.

Incredibly caring G.P who made time for me

The surgery is very welcoming. GP is very accessible and I have always managed to get an appointment when required. My only concern has been the Nurse who didnt refer me to a service and my daughter age 18 waited for a long period of time for a test.
