Good but ask too many questions

A very good and helpful service but they ask so many questions before taking any action.

Take too long to answer

April 22, 2024
They take so long to answer and then ask loads of unnecessary questions and then they might help you. The system is broken and useless. It's just so unhelpful and makes you scared to be unwell through the lack of help.

Just tell you to go to A&E

April 10, 2024
You call them and they just tell you to go to A&E and you know the whole pattern in A&E, they just send you home with paracetamol. Not helpful at all, a waste of time.

Very helpful service. They have arranged a GP appointment for us a number of times. They are very quick, I can arrange an appointment within 3 hours.

Gave me 3 days of antibiotics.

April 8, 2024
I called them as I couldn't get an appointment with my GP. It took a long time to get through and speak to someone but when I did they gave me 3 days worth of antibiotics for my sinusitis. I need more but can't get through to the GP and will take ages but so did waiting for 111 too.

They were very good and they sent me to the walk in centre as they made an appointment. It was all very good and answered straight away and they listened to me.

No good, not helpful

You call them and they say they will call back in 4 hours. It's no good and it's not helpful.

NHS 111

NHS 111 is much more than a helpline – if you're worried about an urgent medical concern, you can call 111 to speak to a fully trained adviser.

Depending on the situation, the NHS 111 team can connect you to a nurse, emergency dentist or even a GP, and can arrange face-to-face appointments if they think you need one.

NHS 111 advisers can also assess if you need an ambulance and send one immediately if necessary.
