I'm on a waiting list and I have not heard from them. They've not offered any support whilst waiting for them.

11 year old with severe mental health issues

My 11 year old daughter has been passed from pillar to post with FTB. Her situation is now even worse but her case was closed. Since FTB have been involved she has self harmed & is actively seeking to end her life - they discharged back to GP saying she wasn't suicidal - absolutely shocking service that is letting young people down at every turn.

Medication has a good impact on me. They don't want to have face to face conversations anymore, it's all online. They do an assessment every few months. They rush the appointments.

They told my son to carry on with his imaginary friend but it was getting dangerous and I wasn't comfortable with carrying it on. They then referred him onto CAMHS

You are on your own.

They aren't accessible. There is an 18 month waiting list and you only go over to their service if you have ADHD. If you have autism then you are on your own.

No help from them.

My 14 year old is under the service. The psychiatrist helping left the role in 2023 and diagnosed my 14 year old with ASD, OCD and help for anxiety. 4 years on the paediatrician referred onto Forward Thinking and then 3 years on knocked back the referral because he seemed okay as the conversations they had with him he seemed fine. On the 4th go they gave him the psychiatrist and medication. They haven't seen him they just give medication. I call them every 28 days for a medication check up or if a new psychiatrist has been assigned and nothing. If he has a bad day, what happens next.

He gets seen by them and we have been so blessed to get 3 consultants that follow up mostly by phone. They don't just see you, they listen and help you.

Doctor didn't turn up to my appointment

February 19, 2024
I had an appointment with forward thinking Birmingham and the doctor didn’t show up. I received a brief apology from the receptionist who then said she couldn’t escalate it and it would be months until my next appointment. I needed that appointment to finalise a diagnosis before moving area.
