Contacted for blood test, unable to help

March 6, 2023
My dad contacted the NHS 111 service for a blood test as it was taking too long to get one through the GP. They said it was something to be arranged through the doctors so ended up waiting 4 weeks to have one done.

Son had an infection in his foot and couldn't see the doctor. I called them and they sent us to another practice to see the doctor.

Give decent information

Give decent information. They will give you information and direct you to the right place you need to go. Used for 6 years old son and 2 years old daughter. They just run the service really well.

Slow service

Slow service. My mom used it once and it was so slow at responding she did get the help she needed but it took a long time.

Bit of a joke

Bit of a joke as well. Previously used them and things get lost in translation. What I had said wasn't relayed properly. Just ridiculous.

They helped me when I was ill. I tried to get through to my own doctor and couldn’t. They spoke to me and they prescribed medication.

They asked no questions

Rang them explained I was having pains in my chest. They asked no questions on the phone and then they said were going to send an ambulance. Didn’t stay on the phone, had to wait.

NHS 111

NHS 111 is much more than a helpline – if you're worried about an urgent medical concern, you can call 111 to speak to a fully trained adviser. Depending on the situation, the NHS 111 team can connect you to a nurse, emergency dentist or even a GP, and can arrange face-to-face appointments if they think you need one. NHS 111 advisers can also assess if you need an ambulance and send one immediately if necessary.
