Staff were wonderful

We attended the Orthotics department last week. The Orthotic member of staff we saw at BCH was wonderful. She answered all my questions, and observed my son who is 2 with cerebral palsy use his Kframe provided by Physio and gave positive feedback.

Very good, except the Covid restrictions need to stop immediately as they are causing immense suffering. No toys for children, no visitors to assist carers, PCR tests or if you refuse threatened with being put on covid positive ward, masks. Care is good for NHS.

We can appreciate your point regarding Covid restrictions, it has been a tough time for everyone involved. However, the restrictions are in place to keep the hospital as safe as it can be. It is good that, at present, the hospital are rolling out 'family time' to support both parents in the hospital. We hope as much as anyone else that this continues. In regard to toys, play is still encouraged on the wards, even throughout the lockdown period, as long as the patient remained in their cubicle/bed space. If ever needed again, please do ask staff for any toys available. These just need to be cleaned before and after individual patient use. Play is always important at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Excellent for first and second doses, both vaccinators gave me clear advice about the vaccine, and the whole thing was very easy

Very bad experience

Very bad experience as my 4 year old nephew has been waiting over 2 years to be seen for an out patient appointment for his ears.

Amazing specialist care from ENT

Ear Nose and Throat

My daughter has had two complex ENT operations both during lockdown in May and then November this year. The care has been consistently excellent. Her nursing care was very good, they communicated really well with both of us and were caring and thoughtful. Her surgeon has gone above and beyond and if he had not been for him she would have very likely had been severe complications. We are very lucky to have had such expert care. He also takes time to communicate really carefully with us as parents but also with my daughter, and has really helped her to trust doctors again after difficult experiences locally. We have travelled from Cambridge for treatment here and we would travel twice as far if needed for treatment of this quality. All the staff cannot be praised enough for continuing such high quality care in the difficult circumstances currently
