Reception staff not very organised

March 24, 2021
Doctors are amazing but the reception staff don't seem to be very organised. Referrals are not put through promptly and they have booked my son in for injections too early and didn't reschedule when the nurse asked them to resulting in a wasted appointment.

No face to face consultation

March 24, 2021
Stupid! After listening to long messages about not calling for the vaccine, when you do finally get through, you get a call with the GP, they appear to not want a face-to-face consultation. Bit hard to describe some stuff, when even you know the GP need to actually see it, or carry out a check.

Never see the same doctor twice

February 19, 2021
You can take 45 minutes to get through to the reception. If you do get through appointments pre Covid19 are 2 or 3 weeks away and you never see the same doctor twice. They do blood tests but never tell you the results unless you chase them and that can take 40 mins on the phone.

Appointment system is horrible

February 10, 2020
There opening hours and appointment system is horrible. I think I won’t be able to see my GP in next two months.

I went to my surgery to a repeat prescription. would like to know why the surgery waiting area was empty because if you ask for an appointment they don't have any.

Initially refused appointment !

December 28, 2017
We called to make an appointment for our 22 year old son who is home on leave from university. We were told that as he is no longer registered here he would have to see either his own GP, who is in Cornwall,or go to Katie Road walk-in centre, and that those were the only options.I then contacted Healthwatch and NHS England who both informed me that as a student he was entitled to 14 days emergency Healthcare before being required to register as a temporary resident.Neither option was offered by the Practice when we called them. I called again today and asked for an emergency appointment for our son explaining what I had been told by the above mentioned agencies. I was then told that they would offer an appointment on condition that our Son comes in first to register and that if he wanted and emergency appointment he would have to go to Katie Road walk in centre. When I once again pointed out that according to NHS England, Healthwatch AND the NHS Choices website that students who are home on leave from University are entitled to 14 days treatment before being required to register and in accordance with these rules I would like to make an appointment for my Son and that I would be reporting the matter to Healthwatch I was finally offered an appointment. I had explained that it was urgent and that it was a mental health issue. I find it quite disturbing that the Policy being enforced by Shenley Green Surgery is so out of Sync with actual NHS rules. I am quite confident, articulate and resilient, but what chance would a vulnerable young man or woman have in trying to get the help that they are entitled to by calling THIS practice ! ?

Asthma check-up was totally inadequate

August 15, 2016
Attended for asthma check up. Asked how I slept, asked about other symptoms and about appetite. Asked about frequency of inhalers, has a series of medications taken when needed. Did no other health checks.

Can only take two or three steps when I have an asthma attack. Told GP I would like to see my own doctor who knows about asthma - waited 5 weeks for this appointment, now another 4 to see own GP because of poor check up.
