Unable to get an appointment and wanting to go in for a face to face appointment instead.
Still only doing telephone triage
August 6, 2021
Dr still only doing telephone triage appointments unless it is an emergency, why can a gp not see you but it is fine for them to say speak to the pharmacist at the pharmacy.
I missed the appointment because of My GP
July 7, 2021
I have been suffering with lower back pains for quite some years and was told by a doctor at the QE Emergency that I have sciatica just based off my description of the pains I'm in. No proper diagnosis was done. I recently had the same problem again and went to see my GP, I couldn't even walk properly and due to Covid I had to go alone. The doctor examined me gave me a prescription for some pain mess and had informed me that he will make a referral to the Orthopaedic Triage. I waited a few months before I got the appointment. However, when I did I could recall that the appt was for the end of March 2020 at 1:30pm and at the Royal Hospital in Selly Oak. Prior to my appt I could not find the letter, so I called the Royal Hospital and they told me they have nothing on their system for me. I gave them my details and NHS number and nothing. They ask me if I was sure it was that Hospital and that I should contact my GP. I contacted my GP to ask them where the referral was made and they told me they have nothing, they can only see the referral. I was stuck, I contacted the QE Hospital and they told me the same thing they have nothing on their system for me and that my GP should have also received a copy of the letter with the appointment. I missed the appointment as a result of this.
Problems started few months ago
July 6, 2021
Generally I was content with the service over the years. I have been with this surgery 15 years, since I moved in to this area. Problems started few months ago. I am on sick note since June last year. I need medical report from GP , because I made a claim from Universal Credit and from Income Protection Policy . I can't get the medical report over the months , Insurance Company is chasing the surgery and myself. I can hear only promises week after week, that it will be done soon. I don't know what to do about it. I'm struggling financially , waiting for the money from my insurer , insurer is waiting for doctors medical report. That's not fair treating patient in this way.
On the whole good

On the whole good but all staff needs more training in this area I was once given an appointment with the doctor trained in autism when I took my son she had no idea about it.

Frustrating and humiliating experiences
January 25, 2021
While the Dr I have spoken to has been very pleasant and helpful, I have had very frustrating and humiliating experiences with some of the staff both on the phone and in person. Registration with the surgery failed repeatedly despite it being confirmed as successful several times, and staff were rude and not listening to me, both on the phone and in person. I was even told off for ringing the doorbell as 'they had obviously seen me but were just in the middle of something', though I had no indication that they had in fact noticed me. I have every understanding that these are unprecedented times, and my criticism does not extend to all the staff, but I left close to tears after being treated like a nuisance especially by one staff member who was lacking any sense of common courtesy or willingness to be helpful. I have since considered changing surgeries due to this treatment.
GP‘s usually pretty good
January 25, 2021
GP‘s usually pretty good and thorough. I am clinically extremely vulnerable and have been shielding since last March. My consultant told me not to go anywhere where there are people yet you have to fight to not come into the surgery for essential blood tests – even though this is the medical advise. Doctors all get this but there needs to be a way of flagging in the system so reception staff can authorise home appointments when necessary. I wish I could go in but not until vaccination. Not staff issue a system issue. All staff has been very patient with me and helpful and supportive.
