They have made mistakes
February 13, 2024
I have been coming here for a few years and there are delays. They have made mistakes and there are no outcomes for them. I have been told that I need a hip replacement because there is metal leaking into my blood. This is wrong for me to have to wait for over a year and they just seem to be dragging their feet.
Happy with the communication

Check in has been fine. I was sent a text about my appointment but no letters or anything. I am happy with the communication. I've not seen the consultant yet but all has been very good.
Very good.

The hospital is okay. They have been nice. I have been coming here a long time. Very far to get to but they are good to me.

This hospital hasn't got a clue anymore.
You wait close on a year before you get an appointment, unless that 1 is cancelled too.
Consultants just lie to your face, I was told once my results were back I would be seen within 6 weeks, my results have been back since the end of October, still no appointment, called and informed due to there 'new appointment system's, which is clearly not working, it could be July until I get seen?
The spinal team is just appalling it really is, how can you be made to wait so long?
And with no answers

The only one who would treat me.

I have come up from Cornwall to be treated or I would have died. I can't tell you how hard it was to get seen. I called the consultant and he was the only one who would take it out as I got blood poisoning from non metal hip joints that had been done elsewhere. We have had to spend £2k of our funeral plan money on train and hotel costs whilst having treatment in Birmingham because nowhere in Cornwall offers the treatment. I've spoken to PALS at my local hospital but they were no help.
A great service.

This hospital is outstanding. I had a hip replacement and received wonderful treatment from all the staff involved. Thank you.
New appointment booking system is awful
January 22, 2024
Appointment booking here is awful. Three consecutive times I've been told that my next appointment would be sent it me in 4 months time. 3 times it wasn't sent and 3 times I had to contact PALS to get an appointment. Apparently the appointment system has changed. Change it back because the system isn't working.
Friendly, reassuring and explained well.

The receptionist I was met with had a friendly face and I had a reasonable waiting time. The consultant was very friendly, very reassuring, he put me at ease. Everything was explained to me thoroughly.
