The treatment didn't work

January 4, 2024
My 12 year old son has alopecia. The dermatology tried a new drug which helped his hair grow back but he could only have it for 3 months as it was affecting his liver and then they had to stop. His hair then all fell out when the medication stopped. They said there was nothing more they could do and so they referred him to the Children's.

Overworked staff and a dated building

January 4, 2024
Generally speaking it's going down in terms of service. A very old and dated building. A lot of staff are over worked and the good staff have moved on and gone elsewhere.

Dirty ward, unhelpful staff

Both of my kids were born there. The ward was dirty, food was horrible and the staff were unhelpful.

My brother went there by ambulance and waited for 2 hours because all of the staff were busy. He was given initial treatment within the ambulance.

Lack of communication

January 3, 2024
I had scans and they said they would contact the GP with the results. I ended up chasing them myself. They sent a text about an appointment but there is no communication between them.

Long waiting for referrals

January 2, 2024
Very long waiting times for referrals and very difficult to get an appointment with your consultant. Poor communication. I have to chase my test results all of the time.

Pass you to the GP at the hospital

January 2, 2024
If you go to the A&E and it's not a heart related issue they will pass you to an in house GP and ask you to follow the yellow line which take you to the GP waiting area where you have to wait hours.
