Doctor is rude. Disorganised

March 11, 2019
The doctor was very rude, aggressive and dismissive even though she was the one who turned up 40 mins late and we had to wait. The reception is ridiculously disorganised with people not communicating and nor do they know what they’re doing. To make matters worse, you can’t call the reception. All calls are diverted to a call centre however, one 4 different occasions I’ve been waiting over an hour and still couldn’t get through which begs the question, does this call centre exist?

Issue with repeat prescriptions

March 8, 2019
Been on repeat prescription for 14 months (28 day supply). Every single month they forget to do. Every month I have to chase prescriptions, between the doctor and the pharmacist. I have actually seen the pharmacist fax it to the practice but they say they haven't got it. For last 3 weeks I have had to have 7 days emergency supply of my medication. Can't handle basic repeat prescriptions.

I have given them at least 7 change of address forms and they still haven't updated it, I've actually handed the physical form to the receptionist.

Very kind and reassuring and non-judgmental. Easy to get an appointment without big fuss.

Getting appointments is hit and miss.

February 18, 2019
I can't book appointments online as I don't have enough memory on my phone for the app. Getting appointments is hit and miss. When you at 8 am you get through, and when you do, all the appointments are gone. Some of the receptionists are really pleasant but with some you feel you are just bothering them. They can be sometimes rude. Doctors seem really good.

Shallow understanding of Mental Health Issues

February 8, 2019
Better than other treatment I have received from GP’s for mental health support. Health care professionals not surprisingly, but disappointingly, don’t seem to have a good understanding of depression. Other than that it means prescribing antidepressants and referring to a mental health service that offers some sort of therapy. I have had worse GP did not know what the leading mental health charity “Mind” was. Didn’t feel completely listened to and GP made assumptions. Good in terms of medication prescribed, increased when needed and monitored. Extreme difficulty in making appointments with surgery, waiting 45 / 50 mins when you are depressed and have no motivation is not good enough.
Moving from Birmingham to Coventry and back to Birmingham, I had no continuity of care for my mental health and had to start all over with referrals / explaining myself. Also no united understanding of high functioning autism / Asperger

Difficulty with appointments

January 27, 2019
It is very difficult to get an appointment as a student at BCU, as you can only book an appointment by calling Handsworth Wood Medical Centre. However, they rarely answer the phone and when I have left voicemails I have never received a phone call back. It is not easy to go to the medical centre itself, so my only option is to call which often does not work and is a waste of time.

Needs inspecting

October 31, 2018
It has gone downhill. Modality has brought this surgery to it's lowest level yet. Some Doctors (Not ALL) cannot cope with so many patients are prone to forgetting, misdiagnosing, assuming, lack of care & attention to patients, refusing to talk about more than one complaint per visit because MODALITY set that preference. So if you have 5 complaints you have to make 5 appointments or 2 double & 1 single appointment, concidering you cannot get through to the reception to book an appointment because everyone is told to ring at 8.30am & then when you get through an appointment is weeks away. There are too many patients at this surgery. I wonder if anyone from Modality is registered here. It is a shame this once fabulous surgery has come to what it has now. Absolute chaotic management. Needs a thorough inspection & I shall be forwarding all the reviews & complaints on Google & here. I have too many complaints to share here!

Two years wait for hormone therapy

September 21, 2018
The GP refers trans people to gender clinics knowing they will have to wait at least two years for hormone therapy. They should prescribe bridging hormone so trans people can get hormone therapy while waiting as its essential for their mental health.
