Needs inspecting

October 31, 2018
It has gone downhill. Modality has brought this surgery to it's lowest level yet. Some Doctors (Not ALL) cannot cope with so many patients are prone to forgetting, misdiagnosing, assuming, lack of care & attention to patients, refusing to talk about more than one complaint per visit because MODALITY set that preference. So if you have 5 complaints you have to make 5 appointments or 2 double & 1 single appointment, concidering you cannot get through to the reception to book an appointment because everyone is told to ring at 8.30am & then when you get through an appointment is weeks away. There are too many patients at this surgery. I wonder if anyone from Modality is registered here. It is a shame this once fabulous surgery has come to what it has now. Absolute chaotic management. Needs a thorough inspection & I shall be forwarding all the reviews & complaints on Google & here. I have too many complaints to share here!

Two years wait for hormone therapy

September 21, 2018
The GP refers trans people to gender clinics knowing they will have to wait at least two years for hormone therapy. They should prescribe bridging hormone so trans people can get hormone therapy while waiting as its essential for their mental health.

awful/dangerous

August 31, 2016
If and when the practice phone is answered you will get to speak to a school leaver who will tell you that they cannot give you an appointment and that is a decision for a doctor who has to call you back but there are no call backs left for today so phone back tomorrow and on and on it goes ...... This practice is dangerous in that patients health is put at risk by the partners at the practice for the sake of profit making. Whoever is supposed to monitor this practice needs to wake up and it needs to be closed down. The reviews of the practice on NHS Choices website are awful. Why are the professional regulators not acted?

My daughter had issues with eating

July 4, 2016
On asking for help we were told her bmi wasn't low enough to access help from an eating disorders team. My daughter stopped eating completely as she felt that this was the only way to get help!!! 2 locum gps saw her and I had to ask for blood tests to be done neither locum made eye contact with her and treated her with contempt. If I had not been persistent and be a nurse, we would still be waiting for help now! In 2004 NICE published guidelines for GPs re eating disorders.. Regular blood tests, bmi being NO indication to access help etc. I think it's appalling that my daughter felt totally let down, unsupported and that the only way to get help was to completely starve herself!

Dear Patient,

Firstly let me apologise in the delay in my response, I am sorry that your daughter felt let down by the Practice.

I can now assure you that we are not using any Locum GP's and that we have new salaried GP's that have started at the practice now which are our regular GP's, I hope that this will put your mind at ease and be able to see familiar GP's now.

Once again I apologise for how this situation was handled for your daughter. If you have anything else you wish to discuss please contact the Practice on 0121 523 7117 and ask for the Practice Manager or Reception Manager.

The appointments system here fails constantly

November 19, 2015
I have been a patient here for approximately 20 years, but over the past 4-5 years since the take over by vitality/ modality or whatever name they wish to call themselves trying to get an appointment is a joke. Your call is never answered & when it is appointments are already taken, I was until February this year taking contraception however after 3 weeks trying to book an appointment, it ran out!

It took them an age to realise I had a frozen shoulder and get a referral for a physiotherapist. After being told by the local walk in centre it wasn't frozen! I have this week finally decided to leave this practice, again due to issues in trying to see a doctor. There call back service fails patients, I requested a call back on Wednesday 18/11/15 twice. Did I get one? My frustration at this forced me to turn up at the surgery on Thursday 19/11/15 as a 'walk in' where I was told they no longer offer this service and I have to call! (That's ok if you get an answer in the first place) so I was told to wait and I would be called. So I waited and waited and waited - 2 hours with my phone on silent, as I was in the surgery, where I had 2 missed calls I found out later this was the doctor calling me! How am I going to hear it when it's on silent as I have said I was in the surgery waiting to see my name come up on the big screen! Communication between reception and patients fails.

This surgery has become to big with more than 16000 patients on its books.

I will now be using the Internet for self diagnosis of any future illnesses I will also be using the Internet to purchase whatever medication I need in the future.

Dear Patient,

Firstly let me apologise in the delay in responding to your complaint and also let me apologise for you not able to get through on the phone to book an appointment.

Over the last 6 months we have changed our appointment system making it easier for patients to book appointments below is what we have done and how you can access this service:
Here is how to book online, you will need to access patient access, this lets you book a call back appointment from 8:00pm the night before if you follow this link you can register for patient access https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/register. You will need to register online first with patient access, then it will inform you, you will need to come into surgery with some I.D. and present this at the reception desk and they will give you the relevant documents you need.

We have also have 7 day pre-bookable appointments these will be released 7 days in advance and will be face to face with the Doctor.

I hope this helps you with booking appointments in the future, if you have any other questions please contact the practice on 0121 523 7117 option 2.

Unable to speak to anybody on the telephone

December 8, 2014
Rang the surgery many times during opening times, press option 1 for the call centre, nobody answers - usually towards the end of the working day i.e. 4pm. Phone system does not give any indication of how long to wait or place in queue

Dear Patient,

Firstly let me apologise for the delay in my response, let me apologise for staff not picking up the phone.

We now have about 25 - 30 call handlers picking up the phone for option 1 and answering the phones to patients phoning in for appointments this should now be picked up a lot more quicker. We have now introduced the time on which your call will be picked up the call handler.

Once again I apologise for any inconvenience caused and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the practice on 0121 523 7117 option 2.
