Excellent after care

April 15, 2021
Have used them since 1975 when we came to Birmingham when my husband finished his time in the Royal Navy. I have had my second child through their GP service and also several operations like knee replacement, with excellent after care.

Admin is poor

February 5, 2021
The doctors and nurses are good, I think, but the admin is poor. On the website recently the latest news post was 2018....the annual Saturday flu injection session does not appear on there so you have to waste their time and yours ringing up. At the moment it says, quite rightly, don't come if you might have Covid, but no instructions or advice on seeing a doctor or what to expect. If you ring, the receptionists seem to regard that as a nuisance. Recently I took in a requested sample for a friend, and the 'senior receptionist' was actually rude. I am sure their job is not easy (reception never is) but one of the things you are paid for is to be polite and pleasant. I do think both these things let down what is otherwise a good practice in my experience.

Dr going above and beyond

July 7, 2020
Dear Health Watch

I wanted to pass through my thanks and compliments to my Dr. Having recently being diagnosed with cancer I have found it extremely difficult to get my pain managed via the consultant. My Dr has been nothing short of brilliant both in terms both his prescribing and his communication with me and my family.
He has gone way beyond my expectations of a GP and has had to recently contact my consultant to ensure my hospital stay was more comfortable. During this difficult time for me and my family my Dr has allowed us to focus on the important things ensuring all things medical are not a source of further stress.

Regards

Receptionist didn’t help me

March 18, 2020
Sent by universal credit to this surgery to get a note to say I am sick but they wanted to charge for a sick note. I couldn’t pay as had no money so as a result I got my rent paid but no universal credit. I didn’t get to see a doctor it was the receptionist that told me. Receptionist was having a bad day, didn’t help me but I let it go. Just booking me for an appointment would have helped.

Positive experience of over 45's reviews

November 22, 2017
Been fairly happy in general. Think the over 45 health checks that have been offered have been valuable. Think my cholesterol problem was picked up by blood test and feel supported getting this down. Having the nurses at the surgery is very helpful. Encouraging to take care of my asthmas due to COPD being in my family, was encouraged to have spirometry test.
I feel that a lot of people only go to the doctors when they think it's urgent because doctors have been under a lot of pressure and some seem burnt out. Yet, sometimes this can lead to illness being nipped in the bud before it becomes serious.

Generally very good service

Generally very good service with myself or my children. Appointments are hard to get. You have to have phoned before 08:40, so ten minutes is a hard slot to book an appointment.
