Very pleased with this hospital

It was a very good stay. I had a hip operation. The food was fine and the ward was clean. I am very pleased with this hospital.
Seen on time by helpful staff

I am seen on time and I receive follow up emails. The staff are helpful. I usually travel by taxi but it's too expensive and public transport is pretty easy. It did take a while to get my initial appointment but that was because it was hard to find out what was wrong.
They had no clue what to operate on
General Surgery

They had no idea what they were doing. One said left knee, the other said right and one said both knees. I ended up having both knees done. The gown they gave me was tatty. They should be more prepared.
Very good care

This hospital is awful.
No care from anyone, from the consultants, nurses, HCA's, the the admin too.
You wait over a year for an appointment, still no appointments your informed, told could be another 6 months, yet others are getting appointments within weeks????
Doesn't make alot of sense.
Use to be a great hospital but it isn't anymore.
0 patient care
0 compassion
There trust values talk about respect, compassion etc... I haven't seen this.
Also there vision talks about, less pain, more independence, life changing care, really???
I'm in more pain, less independent than ever, and had a life changing experience as can barely walk anymore, and you talk about these and how proud you are as a hospital? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Hospital needs looking into, some really bad consultants there that even breach the GMC conditions.
I'd give it 0 stars if it let me

Problems getting through to secretaries
Orthopaedics

I have been coming to this hospital for various orthopaedic problems including my hips, spine and hands for several years. This is an excellent hospital in terms of the care you will receive, the doctors, nurses, imaging and physios are second to none.
The only trouble is getting through to the secretaries and admin staff for updates when you are on a waiting list or need to ask the consultant a question. People are unavailable, or covering for someone off sick and have to check, and then don't ring you back. It is a circus of being pushed and pulled from pillar to post and usually you don't find out whatever it is you wanted to know about. With a few notable exceptions, they come across as unhelpful or clueless.
Once you get past that stage and have your treatment there are no complaints!
The other issue is the waiting lists, there is routinely over a year for first consultation but I guess that is just normal nowadays and not really worth commenting on.
