Doctor didn’t book me for a clinic

March 23, 2020
A pea-sized lump emerged from my urethra one morning, with slight bleeding. On phoning my GP the Practice nurse said if it was bleeding go to A&E. I went to our local hospital, City Hospital. I had a moderate but acceptable wait to get into A&E, then a longer wait for someone to come and look. Eventually a doctor came, with a student, took one look at my nether regions, drew back repulsed, (I know I had come before having my morning shower but....) said yuk, didn't know what it was , said it needed attention, to go back to my GP to get booked into a Gynaecology clinic. I knew I would be unable to get a GP appointment till middle of the next week and hence at least 10 days to get a clinic appointment so I pleaded with Doctor if she could book me in, after much reluctance she agreed she would and I would be phoned on Friday. No call on Friday. Saturday the lump was much bigger and turned black, to me with bio-medical experience it had obviously got twisted and blood was accumulating in the lump. Phoned the local emergency doctor number and managed to get an appointment with a local emergency clinic later that morning.

Had my kidney out here. No problems at all. Good staff and care. Treatment explained well. Very clean, nurse cleaned as well as the cleaners. Never had a problem at Birmingham treatment centre and City hospital.

lack of communication

March 11, 2020
Third visit - no communication on the visits, Ive previously had to the hospital or today to say doctors and consultants are running late- this really needs improving. gave me the splint and bandage to cover my own hand which had been stitched (instead of putting it on for me-he expected me to put this on the evening and take it off the following day- really not good enough- I had to go to my GPs in the end to get them to help me out) - extremely annoying and frustrating.

need better waiting time

March 11, 2020
Sometimes the care is good, sometimes not so good. I get kept waiting sometimes, like today for over 20 mins- making me late to get back to work. Care and treatment is good when I get seen.

Good care but like with everything there's room for improvement.

Staff were helpful at times

March 4, 2020
Staff was helpful at times but there was no toilet paper in toilets. This area was well clean and maintained though found it a bit too warm and muggy and self-check in was out of order but staff was helpful. I think there should be better signs for directions to locations around the hospital. I think there should be a better system when in waiting area due to overrunning of time by an hour with no communication at all. To find out that we need to do something else before been seen.

Not look like a professional organisation

March 3, 2020
On arriving for an appointment the front desk staff are not smiling. It is 10 am and there is a huge queue, actually three or four queues. Some for staff check in and some to speak to advisor. It is utter chaos. Does not look like a professional organisation. Seems as though only one lady is helping people the others are sitting behind desk directing public to self-check-in. overheard someone asking for help and told to use self- check in. People complaining and queues mounting up.
