We have been to family clinic in Boots

Gynaecology
April 4, 2019
We have been to family clinic to do a check up and unfortunately ended up in A&E because patients condition got worse. While in city hospital A&E and then Gynaecology, they kept our family for more than 6.5 hours waiting for a doctor. At this point they had more than 7 midwifes and nurses. From 4-10:52 we wait for doctor to check sounds, ridiculous.

Patients should be informed about long waits.

Waiting area should have TV. If there is a long wait patients should be informed about it so that they are prepared for it. Books and toys needed for children to keep them busy. Bigger room needed to accommodate more people with comfortable chairs.

very long wait for a procedure

March 11, 2019
I have lumps on my womb that requires a procedure that should have happened 2 weeks after finding them. I have been waiting since before Christmas . Follow up appointments keep getting cancelled and now is in June. Can’t have procedure unless awake although I know people who have been put to sleep to have it and won’t give me a full hysterectomy even though I have 3 children and had 28 miscarriages.

A nurse in RAID refused to assess or treat me

Mental Health
February 14, 2019
I was suffering severely with anxiety and insomnia after being refused help from CMHT I went to RAID. The nurse refused to assess me, she dismissed the fact that I was worried about my mental health and physical health through lack of sleep. I have had bad bouts like this before and had spent weeks applying for people's title plans and deeds on my street. Had started a hate campaign against neighbours who I have always got along with reporting them for moving fences and chopping a tree down. I am so horrified by my actions, but my GP, the CMHT and this nurse all failed to help me at a time that I desperately needed it. To be going through anxiety and having to beg for help to sleep is bad enough as it is, but to treated the way this nurse treated me in A and E is similar to another treatment I had in the hospital. From what I can gather she is supposed to be a mental health nurse, so she should recognise anxiety and know the risks lack of sleep would have on me.
But after another terrible experience in A and E and applying for my medical records, it appears she had me down as 'clearly seeking benzos' I'm sure my bank statement and my mounds of neighbours title plans,, reports to the council and fire service will show a very different picture when. My medical history will also show that I am not a benzo seeker at all, I have had 1 prescription of diazepam in my life and 1 lorozopam and 1 diazepam in the accident and emergency dept when I have been in total despair. I'm sorry if I don't fit the picture of someone who is worthy of mental health care when I desperately need it, I'm sorry that I even need to ask for help, but this nurse along with the others mentioned above have left me feeling that I am a liar who has nothing better to do with my life than sit in accident and emergency for 1 pill to try and calm me down and go to sleep.

I had been to the RAID team previously and the staff were very nice and didn't tell me they were setting boundaries as this nurse did.

Uncomfortable waiting area

Accident and emergency services
February 13, 2019
We took our son to City Hospital as he broke his wrist. The waiting area at A&E is really uncomfortable and some of the seats are broken. It is very cold in the waiting room and you don’t have any access to drinking water or food whilst waiting unless you have brought some cash with you. The seats should at least be a bit more comfortable as they waiting times are so long. They should also have a separate, quiet area to wait with children and some children’s toys. It is unclear where you need to wait to be called to be first assessed and the screens are not in use when you are called in. The toilets were not clean either. The receptionists do not give you much information. The doctor who saw our son put a temporary plaster in his hand and said that it does not need to be manipulated, but in the end after a follow up x-ray, after ten days and when the bone had already started to heal, we were told he would need an operation under general anaesthetics after all. It should have been done in the first instance rather than letting the bone start to heal.

Long waits and no support for diabetics

Ear Nose and Throat
January 31, 2019
I normally use a walking frame but when I come to hospital I have to use a wheelchair. This is organised by the nursing home I live in. The ambulance brought me here. They just leave me then fetch me. My appointment is after 2pm and I arrived at 1.30pm, so its a long wait. I am diabetic but sometimes when I am at hospital I don't know how long I will need to wait and need someone to help me with food and drink. No one has asked me if I need food and drink, or the toilet there is no receptionists.
