Got a face to face appointment

Doctor called me to check my blood pressure and gave me face to face appointment. I was having trouble using the Blood Pressure machine the doctor checked my blood pressure and showed me how to use the machine.

The GP referred me to ROH on time for further treatment. Very helpful clinical staff. Although reception staff are very rude.

Great difficulty getting an appointment

Tried to make an appt online. System not working. Called surgery. Explained that I was experiencing bad side effects from medication. Offered an appointment over two weeks away or call at 8.30 following morning which I did. Had to keep redialling 5 times before I got into a queue waiting about a minute each time listening to a recorded message before being told to call back later. Eventually after about half an hour got through to be told no more appointments available and to call again tomorrow. Asked what if I can't get an appt tomorrow? Just told to try again tomorrow or they would.offer an appt in May three weeks away.
Poor instructions on their website re booking an appt on line. Took me an hour and a half from start to finish and eventually secured an appointment on line for a telephone consultation in over two weeks time. I was told by the GP who prescribed the medication to get in touch straight away if the side effects were unmanageable but I have to wait over a fortnight with no advice given in the meantime. Some reception staff seem poorly trained and only have one aim which is to get you off the phone.
No choice given for times for calls from GP.
I don't know how people who work manage to make an appointment at all taking into consideration the amount of time it takes to make an appointment. And for people with no access to the internet their chances of making an appt must be very limited.
There were no issues with making an appt when the surgeries were separate. It is more than disappointing that so much money has been spent on this new building only to find that the service to patients falls short of what is acceptable.
Two systems for making appts which are not synchronized. Phone or V Consult. Problems getting logged onto V consult were understood by reception staff who were reluctant to provide the information I need to get logged on.

Lack of confidence in advice

Telephone appointments only offered on occasions I have needed a GP. No control over timing of call back which makes a confidential conversation impossible when working. This leaves issues undealt with and prevents questions being asked. It feels akin to a telephone help line. I have come away uncertain about how to take a drug, whether it is necessary and feel the only answer may be to contact a private GP.

I think they have performed outstandingly

They have been fantastic in organizing flawlessly Covid & Flu vaccination and in responding to more routine enquiries. As they have to cope with moving to new building during this period of pandemic. I think they have performed outstandingly.

I have had face to face recently

The practice is now adjacent to where I live. The merged 3 practices seem to be settling in well, and although initially I only had phone calls with GP’s, I have had face to face recently which I prefer. The pandemic means that I try not trouble the over stretched health services and my overall health may be deteriorating as a result.

Always find staff helpful. Doctors call or visit as arranged. Appointments always available if needed – even during lockdown, Very satisfied with the services.

What on earth were you all thinking !!!

This was not done with patients in mind that's for sure, very difficult to get to if don't drive. No more personal touch very clinical, receptionists are rude and no clue what they are doing - i only stay because i like the Doctors we had a Granton but now the surgeries have merged what's left !!!! nothing. absolute disaster.
Had to send my blood pressure results - i liked my old surgery far more personable - lovely new building but the service we receive is rubbish compared to what it was before. You have taken a backward step in my view the worst decision ever.
