It's not okay to treat someone that way.

October 7, 2024
Urgent 2 week referral done by my GP to Breast Clinic in July 2024. Referral was declined by a consultant stating on the basis that a mammogram had been done 6 to 12 months previously (this was incorrect). Also must note that 12 months previously my GP had on 2 separate occasions done non urgent referrals to the breast clinic which were also rejected.
My GP went back to the breast clinic to inform that the consultant was incorrect and that I had not had a mammogram or been seen in the last 6/12 months.
After 13 months of attempted referrals to the breast clinic I was eventually seen on the September 2024 by a locum consultant who huffed and puffed throughout the consultation and a number of times said that he would be discharging be that day. After my same day mammogram it turned out that I needed a vacuum assisted biopsy which was swiftly carried out. It is now October 2024 and I have heard from no one as to the results of my biopsy.
The radiographers, nurses etc were professional, knowledgeable, empathetic simply amazing people.
The referral process is a disgrace. The consultants are rude and arrogant and at a time when someone is at their most vulnerable I do not understand why they even think it is ok to treat or speak to anyone the way they do.

The time taken to come back to a patient with their biopsy results is unfair! There has to be a better system. It is coming up to 4 weeks after my biopsy and I have heard nothing.

They said they can't do anymore and have referred me back to my GP. They were very good and very nice, they offered an operation but I refused so they said I would have to have creams and medication to help.
