Told to go to hospital

February 12, 2024
Called them one time and they sent my son to hospital. They asked questions and then told me to take them. My son has asthma.

I call them to get me a GP appointment

February 7, 2024
It's a very efficient service. I call then and they get emergency GP appointments for us. It is much quicker and easier calling them than my GP for an appointment.

Answered quickly

February 7, 2024
I was told to access 111 by my GP and they then told us to go straight to A&E after they asked us questions. They answered quickly and got us the help we needed.

Not helpful

You call them and if the GP is closed they just tell you to keep trying them which is not helpful.

They signpost us to A&E

January 22, 2024
They do prioritise my son and get us to the right place if I need to use them. I have used them a couple of times and they signpost us onto A&E when my son is having a crisis.

Really busy and doing their best

January 17, 2024
I have used them a couple of times and it has been delayed. If you need advice and can't wait for a doctor then it's good when they actually get back to you that is. They are really busy and doing their best.

Good advice

January 17, 2024
Called when my daughter was ill. I couldn't get in at the GP and they advised we go to the walk in which we did. It was good as we got seen straight away and didn't have to wait around. Good advice given.

Better than my GP

I've called them before and they'll give good advice and send me onto somewhere. They're good. Better than the GP.

Sent me an appointment quickly

January 9, 2024
They sent me to Chelmsley Wood for an emergency appointment as the dentist upstairs in the GP surgery is closed. The appointment was made quite quickly. I explained my symptoms and they directed me quickly.

They didn't refer me on to be checked.

January 9, 2024
I called them as I had a prolapsed rectum. They just told me to push it back in which I did but it was very uncomfortable and thought I should have been seen or referred to the hospital.

NHS 111

NHS 111 is much more than a helpline – if you're worried about an urgent medical concern, you can call 111 to speak to a fully trained adviser.

Depending on the situation, the NHS 111 team can connect you to a nurse, emergency dentist or even a GP, and can arrange face-to-face appointments if they think you need one.

NHS 111 advisers can also assess if you need an ambulance and send one immediately if necessary.
